Rehabilitating the NSOOS, Sydney’s Second Largest Sewer

Project Details

Since August 2019, Metrocorp has been lowering custom built pontoons into the Northern Suburbs Ocean Outfall Sewer (NSOOS) early each weekday at Brightmore Reserve (Cremorne) as part of its project for Sydney Water making the near century-old asset more reliable.

Concrete Repairs
Our Setup

The self-propelled pontoons have wheeled outriggers, silt collection and rock wheel attachments, two-way radios, work lights and CCTV cameras so Metrocorp crews can do a quality job safely. This silt removal and varying levels of repair in tunnel sections deep underground is slated for completion in late 2022.

The Project Continues

Metrocorp commenced NSOOS work as part of its new Critical Sewer Solutions joint venture with Interflow in June 2021. Our joint crews are in the tunnel downstream between Brightmore Reserve and Quakers Hat Bay (Mosman). Similar safety, quality and environmental challenges apply. Tunnel and weather conditions permitting, this package of work is expected to be completed in 2024.
