Difficult work done damn well

Traversing Sewers South Sydney

Project Details

Metrocorp began a fresh round of sewer traversing services for Sydney Water in the south. Starting with Oak Flats (Shellharbour), Metrocorp staff, a structural engineer, a coordinator from D4C and technical support from Sydney Water spent around half a day inspecting the 2.4km submain there.

Challenging Access & Terrain

The Oak Flats submain was between 1.5-1.65m in diameter but at least getting in and out was routine. The same could not be said for one of three Cronulla Tunnels inspected afterwards. Accessing the Peppermint Grove (Heathcote) sewer was challenging as all equipment had to be carried by hand across steep bush-clad terrain.
